Apart from being a place to stay in Copan Ruinas, the Hotel "Marina Copan" is a true symbol of the city and its traditions, as it was the first hotel in this area. Located in the tourist and commercial center of the city near Central Park, it was for more than 60 years the residence of its founder, Marina Villamil of Welchez. In honor of her, the hotel bears the name of Hotel Marina Copan.
After opening, the hotel was renovated and grew without losing its unique style, combining colonial and republican traditions. The interiors of the hotel rooms look like an art museum. The trip from the entrance to the rooms surrounds the visitor with a magical view of a beautiful courtyard with huge trees covering their branches with flowers -- an ancient musical instrument lying in a corner and several passages adorned with tropical vines lend a unique touch. The small rooms are dimly lit by lamps.
You have to go out to your balcony early in the morning to see how the mist rises over the mountain of Copan and the first rays of the sun begin to wash gold all around you. Listen to the chirping of birds and enjoy the moment which unfortunately ends too soon.
